NV-only species (deliberately introduced, found only in the Ruby Mountains area of Elko/White Pine counties). Requires a free-use snowcock hunting permit obtained online after July 1 each year. Table in CR 26-13 does not print a specific year on the Sept 1 - Nov 30 range; accompanying memo states 'No changes' for the 2026-27/2027-28 cycle, so this is read as a standing/recurring annual date range. Population outlook

Nevada 2026

Awaiting survey — Nevada 2026

NDOW's own stated position is that the Ruby Mountains' introduced population (~2,500 birds, established 1963-1979) is “extremely tough to see and get an accurate count on.” Its only data-collection instruments are a post-season hunter permit-questionnaire (locations, broods) and a mandatory wing submission, both retrospective. No pre-season quantitative survey or forecast exists for this species.
