NDOW's own annual Chukar Forecast (a genuine, agency-run brood survey pooled by county, unlike the generic species-page boilerplate found for most other Nevada species) gives a real, quantified county-by-county density breakdown. The core range is northern and central Nevada, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing, Washoe, and Douglas counties, each surveyed and reported individually, with named mountain-range detail down to specific burned-vs-unburned drainages within a county. A genuinely separate Southern Region (Clark, Lincoln, Nye counties) is monitored by a different method (a Southern Nevada Quail Forever / NDOW trail-camera partnership at water sources, shared with Gambel's quail), a real, agency-monitored range rather than an unmonitored gap.
NDOW's annual Nevada Chukar Forecast PDF (joint chukar/gray-Hungarian-partridge camera-based water-source monitoring) publishes each September; the 2025-26 edition (dated September 2025) remains the latest found as of 2026-08-19, and the 2026 URL (ndow.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/2026-Chukar-Forecast.pdf) is not live yet. Expected September 2026 per a consistent multi-year publish pattern.
