Points Afield doesn't require an account or charge anything today, so this page focuses on the one thing that matters right now: what you can do with the season, outlook, and access data on this site.

Using the site. Everything here is free to read, search, and reference for planning your own hunt — that's the entire point. Link to a page, quote a fact in a forum post, cite a season date to a hunting buddy. Go for it.

What we ask you not to do. Don't scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the site to rebuild the dataset elsewhere. The season classifications, outlook ratings, and per-species/per-state records here are the actual product — pulled from wildlife agencies across every state we cover, checked, and written up one record at a time. Republishing that compiled dataset, or building a competing tool or database from it, isn't something we license.

The facts underneath are still public. None of this changes anything about the underlying regulations — season dates, bag limits, and hunting rules are public information, published by each state's wildlife agency, and you're always free to go get them directly from the source. What's restricted is our specific compilation of them, not the regulations themselves.

Want to use the data at scale? If you're building something that needs more than an occasional citation — research, an integration, anything beyond personal reference — email contact@pointsafield.com and we'll figure out terms.

Always check the source. It is not a substitute for the regulation booklet. Seasons get amended, emergency closures happen, and license requirements vary by residency, unit and weapon. Every page here names the agency it came from and links out to it — read the current regulations before you hunt.

If this changes. As more of the site opens up — deeper data, an API, anything beyond what's here today — this page will change to reflect it before that happens.
