NDOW's own Chukar Forecast, which covers both species, shows chukar and gray (Hungarian) partridge occupy genuinely different ranges. Chukar is surveyed and reported across seven counties spanning northern and central Nevada, plus a distinct southern trail-camera range. Gray partridge, by contrast, is confirmed by the same document only in Nevada's Eastern Region, and specifically named to a narrow northeastern-corner geography, areas east of the Santa Rosa Range, the eastside of the Independence Mountains, and public lands north of Wells, all in Elko/Humboldt counties.
Joint instrument with chukar -- NDOW's camera-based water-source monitoring is explicitly described in NDOW's own 2025 program notes as “focused on chukar and gray partridge” together, feeding the same annual Nevada Chukar Forecast PDF. Not yet published for 2026 as of 2026-08-19 (see chukar); expected September 2026.
