KDWP's own snipe page states the regional answer directly and unambiguously: Cheyenne Bottoms and other shallow marshes are the primary snipe hunting areas in Kansas. This is the same Central Kansas Wetlands complex (Cheyenne Bottoms plus the adjacent Quivira NWR, Barton/Stafford/Rice counties) named in the sibling rail record, genuine habitat overlap rather than coincidental adjacency, since both species share the identical shallow-marsh-margin/mudflat niche and the Wetlands Education Center's own hunting page groups snipe and rail together explicitly, stating that snipe and rail hunting is good along the shallow marsh margins. KDWP's snipe page adds that the species nests in Canada and the northern tier of states and arrives in Kansas in late summer, remaining through winter, framing Kansas snipe hunting as almost entirely a migrant/wintering pursuit rather than a breeding-season one.
