There is no current confirmed sub-state population of gray (Hungarian) partridge in Wisconsin. The state's second Breeding Bird Atlas (2015-2019) found only 2 confirmed and 3 probable records statewide, scattered in Grant, Iowa and Kenosha counties, too thin and scattered to name as a region, and an independent 2024 species account states the species is essentially extirpated from its historic stronghold in Columbia County. Wisconsin still runs a nominal statewide season, closed only in Clark, Marathon and Taylor counties, a regulatory holdover from a historic introduced range rather than a sign birds are there today.
No dedicated quantitative survey exists, but WI DNR's Game Bird (Brood) Observations citizen-science program (Survey123 app, July 1-Aug 31 collection window) includes gray partridge among the species tracked, feeding internal trend tracking rather than a standalone published report. Breeding Bird Atlas comparisons (19 counties confirmed/probable nesting 1995-2000 vs. just 2 statewide 2015-2019) indicate steep historical decline.
