Georgia Dove Field Forecast & Hunting Program

Georgia DNR manages public dove fields on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), Public Fishing Areas (PFAs), and Voluntary Public Access (VPA) properties. The program offers 21 quota hunts (draw-based, application deadline August 15 through Go Outdoors Georgia system) plus numerous walk-in non-quota fields. Annual Dove Field Forecast published on georgiawildlife.com lists all named fields with acreage, crop plantings, and preseason condition ratings. Mourning dove season statewide with three segments: Sept. 5–Oct. 11, Nov. 21–29, Dec. 19–Jan. 31. Daily bag limit 15 (mourning + white-winged combined), possession 45. Full-day shooting from half-hour before sunrise to sunset. HIP registration required.

Official Dove Field Forecast published annually with complete named field list, acreage, crops, and condition ratings. However, forecast does not distinguish which fields are quota-hunt-only versus walk-in accessible—that information requires checking Go Outdoors Georgia system or individual WMA pages.

Reading Georgia at region scale

WRD publishes no dove density map -- the season runs statewide with no zone split -- but does run a real, geographically organized public-access program: managed WMA/PFA/VPA dove fields spread across the state, organized under WRD's own numbered wildlife-region system, with an annual Dove Field Forecast rating each field's condition. Confirmed named fields in at least four of WRD's regions: Region 1 (Northwest Georgia -- Berry College, Coosawattee, Crockford-Pigeon Mountain, J.L. Lester, Joe Kurz, McGraw Ford, West Point), Region 2 (North Georgia -- Buck Shoals, Dawson Forest, Hart County, Redlands, Wilson Shoals), Region 3 (East Central Georgia -- Alexander, B.F. Grant, Cedar Creek, Clarks Hill East & West, Clybel, Di-Lane Plantation, Lower Broad River, Oconee, Perry Dove Field, Rum Creek, Walton, Yuchi), and Region 4 (Southeast Georgia -- Alapaha River, Appling County Dove Fields, Beaverdam, Canoochee Sandhills, Hiltonia, Ocmulgee). This is an access/habitat-management signal spanning most of the state rather than a claim about where wild dove density concentrates.

WRD managed dove fields across Regions 1-4 (Northwest, North, East Central, and Southeast Georgia)

WRD organizes its public dove-field hunting program under its own numbered wildlife-region system, publishing an annual Dove Field Forecast rating each named field's crop and condition. This is an access-program signal, not a density claim -- dove is not reported as regionally concentrated by WRD; the managed-field program simply spans most of the state's WRD regions.
