Connecticut's entire huntable pheasant population is DEEP-stocked put-and-take on designated public WMAs/state-forest blocks ahead of each hunt day, not a wild, surveyed population — so the honest “region” answer is the geography of the stocking program itself, not a density map. DEEP's own fall-opener press release splits its highest-profile stocking sites into a west group and an east group; its dedicated pheasant-hunting page then lists a fuller roster of stocked WMAs organized by all seven Connecticut mainland counties DEEP actually stocks (Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland, Windham — the release program does not reach the eighth county, Fairfield). Recorded both: the west/east framing DEEP itself used to announce the season, and the full county-organized site list for completeness.
