Ring-necked pheasants are stocked in limited supply by NHFG; season is entirely dependent on stocking. Pheasant license required in addition to base hunting license (16+). Statewide closure until 2:00 PM on Thursdays/Fridays around stocking days. Youth season Sept 26-27, 2026 (bag 2, season limit 10, no license required for youth). No source states a hens-only or roosters-only restriction.
New Hampshire's pheasant population is entirely put-and-take (10,000 adult birds released at 62-64 sites in 41-43 towns for the 2024/2025 seasons per NHFG's own site listing). There is no wild population to map, only a public release-site geography. That geography is real and reproducible year to year: the large majority of stocked towns sit in central and southern NH, concentrated on state Wildlife Management Areas and Army Corps of Engineers flood-control areas, with only a handful of outlying sites reaching into the North Country.
No formal population survey program exists for this species in this state.
