Legally open statewide (all WMDs per official table), but MDIFW's stocking program only releases birds at ~20 sites in York and Cumberland Counties (southernmost Maine); pheasants do not maintain a wild breeding population in Maine. Maine pheasant is a narrow put-and-take stocking program, not a wild population. The season is legally statewide (all WMDs) but MDIFW's stocking releases occur at only about 20 sites, all in York and Cumberland Counties (Maine's southernmost coastal counties). The specific release sites are named: Kennebunk Plains WMA and Scarborough Marsh WMA/Gervais Farm are MDIFW's own named public stocking locations, alongside town-owned and private-cooperator sites (Gorham, Shapleigh, Standish/Sebago Lake Land Reserve). No wild breeding population exists anywhere in Maine, in York/Cumberland or elsewhere.
