Statewide (single season, no zones).Woodcock hunters must wear a minimum of a Hunter Orange or Blaze Pink hat/cap. Falconry for woodcock extended Nov 1-Jan 31. Shooting hours: half-hour before sunrise to sunset.
Louisiana hunts woodcock statewide with a single season and no zone system, but LDWF's own research and management framing is explicit that the state matters primarily as wintering ground — Louisiana winters more woodcock than any other southern state — and names the Mississippi and Atchafalaya River floodplains as the areas that typically offer the best hunting in most years. This is a habitat/wintering-ground claim, not a density-zone map: LDWF has run a woodcock banding project since 1990 centered on Sherburne WMA and Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge specifically because of their concentration of wintering birds.
