FWC publishes no dove density map or zone split -- Florida's season dates apply identically statewide. FWC does, though, run named scheduled/quota dove hunts at specific WMA dove fields spread across the entire state rather than clustered in one region: Caravelle Ranch (north-central Florida, Putnam County), Hilochee (central Florida, Polk/Lake counties), Frog Pond (south Florida, Miami-Dade County), Punta Gorda (southwest Florida, Charlotte County), and a dove field at Dinner Island Ranch WMA (Hendry County, south Florida, Saturday access during the general season). This is an access-program signal describing where FWC has built managed dove fields, not a density claim -- the geographic spread of the named sites (north-central through south Florida) argues against, rather than for, a single regional concentration.
The federal survey cannot say whether Florida dove numbers are rising or falling. Its 2016 to 2025 estimate comes out at -0.73% per year, but the range around it runs from -2.28% to +0.86%, wide enough in both directions that no direction can be called. Read that as unknown, not as steady. The figures also run through 2025, one season behind this fall.
