No limit / no closed daily bag stated.Season closed around the Letterkenny Army Depot Bobwhite Quail Recovery Area (no quail hunting or release there). PA's wild bobwhite population is essentially extirpated statewide; this season exists nominally with no bag limit.
Pennsylvania's wild bobwhite quail population is functionally extirpated statewide (the nominal no-bag-limit season exists despite essentially statewide absence), but PGC's own species page gives a precise, sourceable geography for both the historic range and the one place a real population currently exists. Historically, Pennsylvania's most consistent quail-producing areas were some of the southern counties, Franklin, Chester, Adams and York, with quail found in all 67 counties by the mid-1800s before retreating to the southcentral/southeastern counties, with a few remaining along the Ohio border. The state's only current population is a PGC-led reintroduction at the Letterkenny Army Depot Bobwhite Quail Focus Area (BQFA) in Franklin County. The U.S. Army ceded roughly 2,700 acres of the 18,000-acre depot for this project starting in 2017, with releases reaching a population of 87 birds by 2024 under a management plan running through 2030, monitored by University of Delaware graduate students. Hunting and release are closed within the BQFA itself.
No formal population survey program exists for this species in this state.
