Huey youth-only Dec 5 2026 (40 permits) and open draw Dec 12 2026 (40 permits), Jackson Lake youth-only Dec 5 2026 (10 permits); applications due Aug 12 2026. Falconry season runs Sept 1 2026–Feb 28 2027 (combined with grouse, 3/day aggregate, 6 possession). HIP not required (upland game, not migratory).
New Mexico's pheasant program has no wild-population survey and is built around a short statewide over-the-counter season plus resident-only draw-permit hunts at three specific WMAs. These three sites are genuinely dispersed across three different river systems in three different corners of the state (Rio Grande in the center, Pecos in the southeast, La Plata/San Juan in the far northwest), a real, access-based geography, but not a single regional cluster, so each is written up as its own region rather than merged.
