NJ stocks chukar on WMAs and gives it a real hunting season (not just dog-training birds), in the same season-table row as pheasant and Hungarian partridge. 2026-27 dates not yet published as of 2026-08-29. Reference only, NOT this year's dates: 2025-26 season was Nov. 8, 2025 (8 a.m.)–Feb. 16, 2026, closed Dec. 8–13 & 17, 2025, combined bag "7 partridge, 2 pheasant". Separately, WMAs with dog-training areas also receive 20 chukar/week for 4 weeks before Youth Pheasant Day, for pre-season dog training only (not part of the regular-season bag).
Chukar in New Jersey has no wild population at all. It is entirely NJDFW-stocked, put-and-take, alongside pheasant and gray/Hungarian partridge under the Pheasant & Quail Stamp program. NJDEP's own stocking-maps page publishes the full site list, pre-grouped into three named sub-state regions across the same 23 WMAs used for pheasant and partridge.
