Massachusetts pheasant is a put-and-take stocking program, not a wild population. MassWildlife stocks roughly 40,000 pheasants annually at over 40 Wildlife Management Areas statewide (Zones 1-14), and the agency's own 'Featured Pheasant-stocked WMAs' page makes clear the network is deliberately spread across every region of the state rather than concentrated in one. No MassWildlife source ranks these WMAs against each other by pheasant abundance, since every bird present was stocked that season. Split into six regions below by named geographic cluster (each anchored to specific featured WMAs with their own mass.gov location pages) rather than kept as one statewide blob, since the featured-WMA list itself groups sites this way and each cluster's anchors sit in a distinct, traceable set of counties -- same reasoning already applied to this state's American woodcock and northern bobwhite quail combos.
