IDNR runs a single statewide dove season with no zone system. Hunting-guide sourcing states explicitly that Illinois does not divide dove hunting into north, central, south, or coastal dove zones, and that dove dates are statewide, and IDNR publishes no density map or regional breakdown. The real sub-state signal is access-based rather than a density claim: IDNR maintains managed public dove-hunting fields spread across every region of the state, including named sites in the north (Des Plaines SFWA, Kankakee River State Park), central Illinois (Jim Edgar Panther Creek SFWA, Mackinaw River SFWA, Sangchris Lake State Park), western Illinois (Green River SWA), and southern Illinois (Sam Parr SFWA, Shawnee National Forest, Horseshoe Lake SP, Snakeden Hollow SFWA/Victoria PHA), most requiring a free first-come permit for the season's first five days. That is a real geographic list, but one describing where public hunting access is concentrated, not where the population itself is densest.
