Closed on Tomblin WMA.
A multi-year translocation/restoration project (begun 2020 at Tomblin WMA using Texas-sourced, radio-collar-monitored birds, since expanded to five additional WMAs and one state forest, ~12,000 of a stated 20,000-bird goal released as of the most recent figures found) is active and ongoing, with a stated 10-30% regeneration-rate goal -- a program-progress effort, not a wild-population census or hunter-facing pre-season forecast. Tomblin WMA itself is closed to bobwhite hunting while the restoration continues. Active monitoring confirmed, no discrete dated 2026 report found.
