Bobwhite is at the northern edge of its native range well south of Vermont, and its presence here has always been marginal/introduced rather than a self-sustaining native population extending into the state. The species carries a no-closed-season statutory classification, a legal designation that exists only because there is no huntable wild population to protect with a discrete season. No VFWD-published release-site geography exists, and private stocking locations are not centrally mapped, so there is no sub-state pattern to record, the same shape as Vermont's chukar.
