Statewide season including all three VT waterfowl zones (Lake Champlain, Interior Vermont, and Connecticut River — the CT River Reciprocal Agreement explicitly excludes woodcock/snipe from the NH hand-off, so VT's own statewide dates govern there too). No state or federal duck stamp required, but HIP registration is mandatory. Best shooting is mid-to-late October per VFWD; found in the same alder-swale/regenerating-clearcut cover as ruffed grouse.
VT contributes routes to the federal Woodcock Singing-Ground Survey (Eastern Region) rather than running its own program; no VT-specific outlook exists. The federal 2026 edition has not been published yet (confirmed via direct fetch of the USFWS report collection page, 2026-08-19).
