Ohio has no wild, self-sustaining chukar population. Persistent self-sustaining populations in North America are confined to western states and provinces (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and British Columbia), and Ohio is not among them. Ohio's huntable chukar exists solely through put-and-take stocking, sharing the same season and administrative rule as ring-necked pheasant, which itself is treated as a shared, statewide administrative pairing rather than a distinct geography. No ODNR primary source names specific chukar-stocking wildlife areas (the same gap the regulation already flagged), but one secondary hunting-guide source names three specific wildlife areas, Killdeer Plains, Delaware, and Maumee, as sites where released chukar are made available for hunting alongside stocked pheasant. These three sites split into two geographically distinct clusters (central Ohio vs. northwestern Ohio near Toledo), not one contiguous "north-central" area as the pre-geo-anchoring region name implied; broken into three site-level regions below for that reason.
