Single continuous gun season (not split).NC also runs a separate, narrower extended falconry woodcock season (Dec 1–9, 2026 & Feb 1–20, 2027, 3-bird falconry bag) not reflected in the gun-season dates here. No Sunday hunting statewide; possession limit is 3x daily bag (9).
NCWRC's own species page gives only a generic statement that the species is found throughout most of the state, with no regional breakdown. Independent hunting-press sourcing (Project Upland's Southeast woodcock guide, Garden & Gun's Uwharries feature, Dive Bomb Industries) converges on a real, if secondary, two-part geographic pattern: a Coastal Plain wintering/resident concentration, and a Piedmont river-corridor migration stopover that is real but explicitly described as modest compared with other Piedmont areas further south.
