This state's classification carries no date range for the species.
Legal game bird under HAR §13-122-6 (Phasianus versicolor); bag limit shared/combined with Ring-necked Pheasant. Same season structure as ring-necked pheasant; 2026-27 announcement not yet published as of 2026-08-29. 2025-26 reference: Nov 1, 2025 - Jan 25, 2026. DOFAW's last 5 years of announcements all came out in October, so this isn't overdue yet.
DOFAW regulates Green Pheasant (Phasianus versicolor) as its own legal species with its own bag limit (combined with, but distinct from, Ring-necked Pheasant), but the Bishop Museum's Pyle & Pyle "Birds of the Hawaiian Islands" reference monograph does not give it a separate species account at all. It treats versicolor as a genetically and ecologically distinct subspecies/color-morph population nested within the Ring-necked Pheasant account, since Hawaii's pheasant population overall is a torquatus/versicolor/mongolicus hybrid swarm. That account is nonetheless specific and geographically precise about where the pure/intergrade Green Pheasant birds occur: exclusively on Hawai'i Island, in moister, higher-elevation forest that the common hybrid pheasant population elsewhere in the state does not favor.
