This state's classification carries no date range for the species.
Legal game bird under HAR §13-122-6 (Pterocles exustus); rule-book bag limit is aggregated with Mourning Dove and Spotted Dove (10/day either sex, any combination). 2026-27 dates not yet published as of 2026-08-29; general game bird reference dates for 2025-26 were Nov 1, 2025 - Jan 25, 2026, though as an upland (non-MBTA) species it would not be subject to mourning dove's earlier federal closing date. DOFAW's last 5 years of announcements all came out in October, so this isn't overdue yet.
Chestnut-Bellied Sandgrouse is the narrowest-range species in this entire batch -- per the Bishop Museum's Pyle & Pyle "Birds of the Hawaiian Islands" reference monograph, it is established on exactly one island. HDFG released birds from India to three islands in 1961-62: Kaua'i (118 birds), Moloka'i (137 birds), and Hawai'i Island (493 birds total, along Saddle Road). The Kaua'i and Moloka'i releases were never reported again after shortly following release, and the Hawai'i Island population itself was thought to have died out by 1966 before a small remnant surfaced along the North Kona coast in the late 1960s-early 1970s and rebuilt into a stable, flourishing population from the 1970s through the mid-2010s. There is no evidence of any sandgrouse population anywhere in Hawaii outside this one Hawai'i Island range.
