ADF&G's grouse regulation text and species-roster material both explicitly name only 'sooty (formerly blue) grouse' for Alaska, not dusky grouse - the two species were split from the former 'blue grouse' complex, with sooty grouse occupying the coastal Pacific range (including SE Alaska) and dusky grouse occupying interior/Rocky Mountain ranges further south that do not reach Alaska.
